Tamang Heritage Trial Trek
Tamang Heritage Trial Trek is an exciting new trek between Langtang and Ganesh Himal that offers a glance at the typical life style and culture of mountain people called Tamang. The trail passes through traditional Tamang villages where culture and craft still remains unchanged. In addition this trek also provides scenery of gorgeous backdrop of alpine landscape, flat pastures, rhododendron forest and outstanding view of Himalayas.
Tamang Heritage Trek begins after a drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. We move towards Goljung and trek to Gatlang, a beautiful Tamang village set high on a hillside with terraced fields. Goljung and Gatlang both have Buddhist monastery. One can enjoy the beauty of Parvatikunda lake at Gatlang. Then we head to Tatopani where one can relax in the natural hot springs. We cross Nagthali to reach Thuman, a Tibetan influenced Tamang village. Nagthali can mesmerize you with the panoramic views of Langtang, Kerung, Ganesh Himal, and other mountains. Thuman is decorated with ancient monasteries and houses adorned with unforgettable rich wood engravings. Every house in Thuman gives you the view of magnificent Mt. Langtang. We continue our jouney to Timure, an old trade route to Tibet, and head to Briddim, another Tibetan influenced Tamang village. Enjoy the home-stay here, observe elaborate costumes, warm hospitality, rich architectures of mountain houses and traditional dance of Tamang community. Finally, we follow Bhote Koshi river and descend to Syabrubesi from where we can drive back to Kathmandu.
This trek takes you through picturesque villages, terraced fields and peaceful valleys, soak in the natural hot springs and witness panoramic Himalayan views, the heritage, exquisite local architecture of Tamang home. Best seasons are Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November).

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Your wonderful journey to the amazing Himalayas starts from your flight to Kathmandu. Onto your arrival our company representatives will greet you at the Tribhuwan International Airport and escort you to the hotel for check-in and stay overnight. You will have a rest at the hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 02: Sightseeing of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur city
You start a guided tour to four of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Kathmandu Durbar Square holds the palaces of the medieval Kings who ruled over the Kathmandu Kingdom. Pashupatinath houses a sacred Lingum, or the phallic symbol of Lord Shiva. The Aryaghat alongside Pashupati and on the banks of the Bagmati River is a famous funeral site for the Hindus. The Buddhists shrine of Boudhanath is one of the largest stupas in the world, and one of the holiest Buddhist pilgrimage and tourist destinations in Kathmandu. The area of Boudhnath is also famous for over 50 Tibetan Gompas or monasteries. Swayambhu meaning the "the self-existent" is popular among the foreigners as the Monkey Temple owing to the large number of monkey population residing in the area. Bhaktapur Durbar square and Patan Durbar Square are also listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Bhakatpur is an irresistible city with an authentic local lifestyle preserved over centuries of isolation from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. While in the city square, you get to admire the Nyata-Pola Temple, the Golden Gate, water spouts and the 55 Window Palace which merge together to provide an ambience of a magical outdoor theater to its visitors. Day 03: Drive to Syabru Bensi by Public bus/Private Vehicle(1462m) 9 Hours
After an early morning breakfast we drive on our way to Syabru Bensi via Trishuli. We will have a lunch at Trishuli. After we reach to Syabru Bensi we will rest at hotel and get ready for the trekking tomorrow.
Day 04: Syabrubesi to Gatlang
After an hour and half of ascent from Syabrubesi we reach the view point from where we can see the fantastic view of Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range and the Goljang valley. Now we head down to Goljang valley for the Lunch which is an hour walking downhill from the the view point. Gatlang the beautiful Tamang village is another 3 hrs walk from Goljang. Upon arrival the guests will be welcomed by Khada (white scarf) and the home made local drinks Rakshi accompanied by the welcome song in local language. Get refreshed and enjoy the local Syabru dance. Overnight at the community lodge.
Day 05: Gatlang to Tatopani
This would be the longest day of the entire trip and will take about 7 hours. The walk begins by descending to Thangbuchet (near Chilime village) by the Bhotekoshi River. Stop for the lunch here. Chilime Hydropower dam is situated here. After lunch the trail will be ascending up crossing the hanging bridge. Ascend continues until you get to Tatopani which literally means 'hot water', you can clean yourself in natural hot springs with bathing areas in the lap of the mountains. Locals believe that the waters have a healing quality that eases away your aches and pains. Dinner and overnight stay at local tea house.
Day 06: Tatopani to Thuman
The trail ascends to Nagthali Danda (3300m) the high open grassland with amazing views of snow covered Himalayas. Stop for lunch at Brimdang village. After lunch the trek continues ascending to Nagthali Danda. One can enjoy the view and spend some time at the top accompanied by tea prepared by the care taker of the Gompa. Trek continues down to Thuman, Tibetan influenced Tamang village with friendly people who love to sing and dance.
Day 07: Thuman to Rasuwagadhi (2240m)
Today after early morning breakfast you hike to Rasuwagadhi. Overnight at tea house.
Day 08: Rasuwagadhi to Briddim (2290m)
After having breakfast we hike to Briddim. Overnight at hotel.
Day 09: Rest and exploring day in Briddim
Today we will explore around Briddim. We will have a rest day inorder to finish our trekking. Overnight at Briddim
Day 10: Briddim to Syabrubeshi
Today we will walk back to the start of our trekking destination. We hike back to Syabrubensi for 4 hours. Onto reaching Syabrubensi we will have overnight at hotel.
Day 11: Syaprubeshi to Kathmandu by Jeep/Local Bus
We will drive back to Kathmandu for 8 hours. Onto reaching Kathmandu we will have a souvenier shopping for your friends and a farewell dinner for completion of our trekking. Overnight at hotel.
Day 12: Transfer to the airport for the final departure
Nearly 2 hours before your scheduled flight, our company representative will take you to the airport. We are sure; you will back to your home taking amazing experience of Nepal. We hope you enjoyed trekking and want to be somewhere in the Himalayas again.
