Kailash Lhasa EBC tour from Beijing: the best time to travel
The best time to do the Kailash Lhasa EBC tour from Beijing is May to October. You can travel to Beijing, Lhasa, Shigatse, and Kathmandu throughout the year. But the Kailash part is only accessible between May and October.
From May to October, Kailash is safe to travel to. The climate is relatively stable, and the road is not blocked. The cold is not as extreme as it is in other months, and the views are breathtaking. The Kailash Kora route is also open and safe.
Kailash Kora difficulty
Kailash Kora is three days long. You will walk 17 km from Yam Dwar to Dirapuk, 22 km from Dirapuk to Zuthulphuk via Dolma La Pass, and 12 km from Zuthulphuk to Zongdui.
In total, the Kailash Kora distance is 51 kilometers. Every day, you will walk 6 to 7 hours on average. The hiking terrain is rough, and the high altitude makes walking challenging.
You need to be in good shape and determined to complete the Kaialash Kora. We have seen normal devotees completing the Kora just out of their faith. So, it also highly depends on your mindset and willpower.
Other than the Kailash Kora, no part of this trip is difficult.
Altitude sickness during the tour and how to avoid it
Altitude sickness is a high risk during the Kailash Lhasa EBC tour from Beijing 15 days. It is because you will gain a high elevation in a short time while flying from Beijing to Lhasa. To overcome it, we have added an acclimatization day in Lhasa.
After Lhasa, you will gradually drive to Mansarova Lake at 4,590 meters. The road from Lhasa to Sightase to Rongbuk to Saga crosses high mountain passes like Kamba La, Kora La, and Gyatso La.
Crossing these passes allows you to experience high altitude and sleep at low elevation, which is great for acclimatization. In addition to that, if you take care of your hydration, sleep, and rest, you can complete this tour without suffering from altitude sickness.
Some early symptoms of altitude sickness are vomiting, nausea, headache, dizziness, insomnia, loss of appetite, and breathlessness. If you see these symptoms, you have to take medicine from your guide and rest.
Do the following things to avoid altitude sickness during the Kailash Lhasa EBC tour from Beijing:
Keep yourself hydrated
Drink lots of warm soups and ginger-honey teas
Get plenty of rest, especially on the day you arrive in Lhasa
Avoid alcoholic drinks and smoking
During Kailash Kora, maintain your pace and do not rush
If you feel out of breath, stop and rest
Listen to your body and inform your guide if you feel any discomfort
Communication
WiFi is available free of cost in hotels and many public areas in big cities. You can buy a Chinese SIM to stay connected on the road. Signal may not be reliable in the Rongbuk and Kailash area.
Guide and drivers
We have dedicated representatives in each country to assist you. You will travel with a reliable guide throughout the trip. Likewise, our drivers are also well-trained to drive smoothly and safely.
Currency
You will need Chinese Yuan to use in Beijing and in Tibet. In Kathmandu, you have to use Nepalese currency. There are money exchange centers and banks available in all cities to exchange your currency.
Bring a few hundred dollars for each exchange and carry your Credit Card to withdraw cash as needed. Local markets in many places still do not accept payments via card, so make sure you have cash on you to purchase little things here and there.

A most successful pilgrimage support by a most excellent team at Leaf Holidays!
My friend and I have successfully completed the guided Mt Kailash and Manasarover pilgrimage with the help of Managing Director Gopal Thapa, of Leaf Holidays, in September 2024. I can personally vouch for their thorough support throughout from the moment we started communications to clarify details of the tour, to ensure we booked it with confidence, to when we arrived and departed - they have an excellent and experienced network of guides, porters and chefs. I felt totally looked after and cared for throughout. Gopal was on hand every step of the way to support everyone's particular requirements. Most of all he did all this while staying cheerful, patient and amicable all the time! The chefs did an excellent job cooking fresh breakfast, lunch and dinner at every location. Incredible support was provided during the Lake Manasrover prayers and also during the Mt Kailash circumambulation by both Gopal and Kusum. Absolutely loved the cultural night treat a day before our departure with the added bonus of celebrating Gopal's brithday! Bravo indeed Leaf Holidays team - many thanks, keep it up and God bless!

Dream Darshan of Kailash Maansarovar
Going to Kailash Maansarovar was a life long dream and just when I thought it may never happen I got the divine call from Jayshree our tour operator to pack my bags and get ready. The Yatra was very well organized with ZERO planning n stress for me.The flights, the accommodation, food and transport were awesome. The people who really looked after us day and night and very warmly deserve a mention here. Gopal Thapa for Visa's and accommodation in Nepal. He gave us a very warm welcome at the airport too :) We were taken to Pashupatinath temple and also our Mountain flight to Everest and other Himalayan ranges was well organized.Gokaran who was our 24 hrs shadow and helped us with every little thing on the 11 day drive and trek to Kailash and Maansarovar. He made us laugh so much with his jokes and he is such a good singer. He was also the life saver with oxygen cylinder for me as I had low O2 a few times at high altitude. He made the whole trip seem so easy though it's one of the most difficult Darshans that one can do.Gokul and Nakul and the good chef who kept feeding us 3 times a day with warm breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very nice and genuine guys and so hardworking.I would recommend Leaf Holidays to anyone and everyone as there is a homely feeling with them and most of us literally had tears at the end of the trip. Like we wanted to come home but also we were leaving these lovely souls behind to help with other Yatris. I think I will always keep in touch with them as for me now they are family :)

Unforgettable Kailash Manasarover - June 2024
Breath-taking views and amazing location! What an experience... Leaf Holidays took care of us very well... We landed at midnight and Gopal was there at the airport to receive us, right from there till we were dropped back at the airport, Leaf Holidays staff were there to take care of us and ensured that we enjoy each day of our trip. Even while waiting for our group visa to arrive, they took us around Nepal each day to a different location accompanied by their staff and arranged cab services. All hotel stays were superb, especially in Tibet. Food was delicious, freshly cooked warm food for every meal with a balanced veg diet, unlimited supply of mineral water bottles, hot chai and hot water always, even for bathing at Manasarover:) Above all, the staff - Gopal and his brothers were caring, took care of every detail right from picking up our luggages to loading and unloading each day, carrying our personal bags, making sure they walk with us at every step, checking for our health each day and what not... the boys were simply great that gave us a "warm" experience and a memorable one!!!

The holiest pilgrimages
Om NamashivayaI recently completed Mount Kailash, Manasarovar yatra with Leaf Holidays Treks & Expedition. It was dream come true. I will cherish each and every moment of my yatra for the rest of my life.It is a tough pilgrimage. It was well planned and executed by Gopal and his staff. Right from paperwork, hotel accommodations to everyday meal plan everything is carefully planned. I got support, guidance and help whenever needed. Regular health check is done for the entire group. Staff gave excellent care to those whose oxygen level dropped. Totally impressed with their services. I would like to appreciate Jayshree Patel’s services. She is my contact person in Canada for Kailash Manasarovar yatra. She gave timely guidance and positive confidence to prepare for the yatra. She is humble and down to earth which makes it easy to communicate with her freely. Thank you Gopal, his staff and Jayshree for all the support to fulfill my childhood dream.

The Par Excelent Services - Best of the Best People
At the time when we wanted to visit Nepal, we were looking for a tour guide in Nepal. we came across Leaf Holidays and were a bit skeptical about it. We landed in Kathmandu on the 29th of April afternoon, to our surprise, the team of Mr. Gopal Thapa and Tek Prasad were waiting for us at the airport with garlands and a big Van and smiling faces. Now we were sure to have the best time with this team. They had arranged our stay in the best hotels with superfood. During the entire trip of 10 days, they give us the best services. Due to air pollution, our flights were canceled for Pokhran, and without a second thought, they decided to drive us for about 8 hours to Pokhara in the Van. The roads were terrible, but we enjoyed the bumpy ride with good food on the way. The same cancelation happened on our return and they joyfully road-ridden with the team for about 12 hours to Nagarkot from Pokhran. They showed us the most beautiful places and temples to worship. This trip became our Pilgrim trip. Gopalji and Prasadji took us to the best places for shopping and managed to get us real bargains. They ensured we do not spend more than what is worth paying for.At the end of our trip, they dropped us at the airport and it was difficult to say Good Buy, but we said: "will come again". I want to say here, that if anyone is looking to visit Nepal, and wants to enjoy a true hospitality experience, you must use their services.
